Kyonna's Future Goals:

Jordan's Future Goals:
"My goal as a psychology major is to obtain a thorough grasp of social dynamics, mental health, and human behavior. I plan to help youth dealing with psychological issues by offering counseling and assistance, assisting them in managing stress, trauma, or mental disease. I may also assist in the communication and conflict resolution processes in families, businesses, schools, and other social environments to make clear that everyone has a heart that needs to be heard."
I will be attending North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University to obtain a bachelor's degree in nursing in hopes of pursuing a career as a traveling registered nurse before returning to graduate school.
I will be attending UNC at Chapel Hill and double majoring in political science and business administration. After my undergraduate years, I will attend law school and pursue my dream career as a litigation attorney.
Education is my top priority. I plan on attending Fayetteville State University in the fall and majoring in Business Administration. This scholarship will help me strengthen my knowledge and expertise in operating my own hair and skin care business.
The scholarship will have a great financial impact on my education.
My future goals are to complete my education with a B.S. in Computer Science and to some day work as a software designer for a large corporation.
I want to go attend school for criminal justice with a focus in forensic science. After graduation I desire a great job, a nice life, and the capacity to share.
I also want to start my very own dance company.
My future goal is to become a successful entrepreneur. Since I have been in high school, I have learned about several different career fields and cosmetology stood out to me the most. I see myself attending a four year university to major in Business Administration. This degree in business will allow me to own my own beauty salon one day.
My future goal is to attend college, graduate, and play sports professionally. I would like to achieve these goals to become a role model for the youth in my community.
My future goals consist of graduating from WSSU, with a degree in Nursing, to become a registered nurse. I would love to find a job in my field at a local hospital or to become a travel nurse. I would also like to open my own one-stop-shop, which would consist of clothing, makeup, hair, nails, and more.
In my community there is a lot of violence involving youth. I try to set an example for the kids my age. Just because we come from a low income community does not mean we have to meet societies expectations about us. People assume that Kinston produces a bunch of gang bangers, young mothers, and thugs. I am living proof, as well as people like Brittany Drumgoole, Brandon Ingram and Tish Dixon, that Kinston is also a place for excellence. I promote change in my community being an example to younger kids of what it means to have goals and a desire to be better than what is expected of you.
As a young male, I have made every effort to set a positive example and be a role model in my community, school and church for other community youth through volunteering and giving back. As a member of Kinston Teens and KHS Marching Band, our goal is to be the change and to be role models in our community. In 2017, my life changed, as my dad suffered a major stroke that caused him not to be able to work or have the same quality of life. It was at that point, I knew that I wanted to make a positive difference in somebody's life everyday that I have an opportunity to do so..
Ayanna is a Senior at Kinston High School, and this years recipient of the Brown Family Memorial Scholarship! Congratulations Ayanna
I serve my community by volunteering my time and abilities with the various extracurricular clubs that I'm involved in at school. I am apart of the Kinston High School Anchor Club and our mission statement is to serve those around us. This includes many service projects such as mentor/mentee sessions, beautifying the community, tailgating, cleaning and feeding at homeless shelters, and canned food drives. I also occasionally serve at the Food Bank of America drive that is held at my local church. This endeavor that is sponsored by the Food Bank of America helps to feed hundreds of local citizens monthly.
The money from this scholarship will help me financially because I come from a single parent home. Although I will be receiving financial aid, I am still in the need of financial assistance. This scholarship will help put my mind at ease because I will be able to purchase a laptop that I desire to take with me to college.
